Welcome to Carol & Bill’s Travel Journal!

We’re happy you found us!  We intend to use this site to connect with family and friends (both current and new along the way) during our travels.  We hope you will join us and share your feedback as well as suggestions for places to visit and things to do when we pass through areas you are familiar with.

Some travel blogs stand out due to excellent writing and/or photography.  Others focus on exotic destinations far off the beaten path or adrenalin-driven, high risk adventures.  And there are sites with a theme, such as a particular mode of travel (RV, sailboat) or a singular goal (visiting all of the U.S. national parks).  We don’t fall into any of those categories! We simply want to stay connected and share our experiences as we explore the U.S. and points beyond during the next several years.

About Us

Our home base is northern Colorado, where we have lived and worked for the past 30+ years.  Bill was a professor at Colorado State University for 30 years, and Carol worked as a health care executive and management consultant for about the same amount of time. We have two adult sons, both married and living out of state.  Philip is married to Kim – they live in Montana and are brand new parents.  Andrew and Gail, along with multiple cats, call the Seattle area home.  Needless to say, they live in places that we love to visit!

Now retired, we have decided to travel pretty much full time for the foreseeable future. No RV, no sailboat, and likely no fancy resorts. Our primary mode of transportation will be the Subaru (for domestic travel), and preferred lodging will be Airbnb and other short term rentals.

While waiting for our house to sell (it took six months), we took advantage of the opportunity to visit (or re-visit in some cases) and write about some of the special places in our own backyard.

And now that we have sold the house, we’re ready to hit the road, and we invite you to come along for the ride!
